XAU / USD : trend forecast August 18, 2025

⚠️Gold (XAU/USD) faces selling pressure near $3,330 in early Asian trading on Monday, slipping lower following stronger-than-expected US Producer Price Index (PPI) figures. Market participants also await a meeting between US President Donald Trump and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy later today for fresh catalysts.

The hotter US PPI data released Thursday led traders to scale back expectations of a Fed rate cut in September, weighing on the metal’s outlook. The index surged 3.3% YoY in July, up from 2.4% in June and far above the 2.5% forecast.

Additionally, figures from the US Census Bureau on Friday revealed Retail Sales grew 0.5% MoM in July, matching forecasts but slower than June’s upwardly revised 0.9% gain.
