2% profits in 5 hours of waiting , good ?

Please forgive me if the above caption is misleading. It is a fact that if you short at 1600 hours and hold till now, you made an immediate 2% profit.
The challenge is the mind begins to play a trick on you. You start to imagine if within such a short time, I can make this profit , what if I double or triple it ?
Wow, you started imagining what you can do with the easy profits......take the family out for a nice meal (maybe takeaway for now), keep aside for future travel plans, etc.
The thing is we don't know if the 2nd selling opportunity will make you more money or not. Why ? Because it can always reverse back and go up higher as it had previously.
But because you double down on the 2nd attempt, you may end up with more losses and forfeiting the first profits you made. And this vicious cycle goes on till your account is busted.
If you walk away, reflect on your mistakes, talk to people who had been burnt before (like me, haha), then you realised you are not alone. Almost all traders were in this position before. The lure of the easy profits is indeed tempting and sometimes it is. There are definitely low hanging fruits out there if you bother to hunt for it.
Remember, trading takes time and effort to learn, discipline (lots of it), emotional mastery (even more), capital management (can't emphasize enough), risk management (don't forget this), trading strategy (simple one like trend trending is good enough).
Never let any marketing gimmicks by any so called gurus out there in your country or internet tell you things like :
1. spend 10 mins a day and make 5000 easily
2. market up or down, you still make money
3. something like the above
Ask yourself this SIMPLE , LOGICAL question
- If what they say is so easy and straightforward, why are they out there , busy in fact, day in nights out promoting their trade signals, news service, courses, etc instead of keeping to themselves and make tons of money ?
Yes, right, they care about you. About your money. A class of 10 students , offline or online at 3000 USD for a 2 days course would net the guru 30,000. If he did it every other month, that would be 6 x 30,000 = 180,000.
Of course, there are legitimate ones but you seriously need to do your research. Ask lots of questions, show proof of trades, talk to their students ,etc. Remember, nobody loves your money more than yourself so it is your sole responsibility to take good care of it.
And yes, there are wolves disguised in sheep skins out there that portray themselves as excellent at chart reading, forecasting, this and that. Go in with open eyes, do your research and at the end of the day, if you are not benefiting or felt shortchanged (provided you have applied 100% of what have been taught, to be fair),then at least your conscience is clear, right ?
