Time to expiration, also known as "time until expiration" or "days to expiration (DTE)", refers to the remaining period before an option's expiration date. It is a crucial factor in options trading, as it influences the option's value, particularly its time value. The closer an option gets to its expiration date, the more rapidly its time value decays, a process known as time decay.
