Why did the Russian Currency Start to Loose Value in June 2014?

According to the World Bank the "problems" with the GDP started in 2013 not June of 2014 like in the currency graph...

what was the real problem in Russia?

It looks like things got better starting in 2003 to 2008? back then that was a "housing bubble" in Russia?
