Grab, established in 2012, is a multifaceted platform offering ride-sharing, food and grocery delivery, and financial services across eight Southeast-Asian countries. It dominates the market, especially in ride-sharing and food delivery, accounting for 89% of its revenue, with significant contributions from Singapore and Malaysia. Grab competes with Foodpanda and Gojek but is focusing on organic growth and AI technology investments to achieve full-year profitability, as stated by CFO Peter Oey. Despite its financial services being in early stages, Grab has also started generating advertising revenue, marking its first quarterly profit recently.
