currently bouncing of a double support level and most likely progressing upwards in the short term to the next resistance level mid-term seems to be still down trending from where it could develop upwards.
If history/patterns repeat(s) we might see a large breakout soon.
I personally am a believer in what Ripple is doing. and where they are heading How this progress/news will reflect on the actual future XRP value i'm not sure. (if at all) Although the news is mostly positive, Ripple is recently sued by R3 so lets hope this turns out well and we get some good action from that.
Though, what good are ripples for? Can you actually use them for anything?
To me they don't seem to have any intrinsic value, please correct me if I am wrong.

@catarrh, You are right. It is a gamble. The "value" comes from the anticipated future scarcity of XRP. As XRP would be used to provide settlements between banks for international transfers and other services, it would be a bigger requirement for banks to have them to settle deals. so it would be a balance of cost-cutting and willing to spend to make things happen i guess. So it's an anticipated future scenario. Ripple is conducting trials in the banking sector for these services as well as it's competitors (of which one is sueing them)... who knows what the future bring. One small remark. Ripple itself states that XRP should be seen as an investment. so you can chose if you want to take the risk or not. I think a (very) small portion can go to this to limit the risk. keep it and see where it goes... :-)
