ในกรณีที่เป็น Impulsion wave ต้องเอากฏ Impulsion มากำหนดรูปแบบ เช่นกฏ Extension Ruls จะต้องมีคลื่นยาวที่สุดเป็นคลื่นยืดตัว (เทียบเฉพาะ คลื่น 1 / 3 / 5 เท่านั้น) ในกราฟจริงคลื่นที่ยาวที่สุดเป็นคลื่นที่เราสมมุติว่าเป็นคลื่น 3 โดนทั่วไปคลื่นที่ Extension ต้องยาวตั้งแต่ 161.8% ขึ้นไปในกราฟจริงเกิน 161.8 % ถือว่าผ่าน

ในคลื่นที่เราสมมุติว่าเป็นคลื่น 2 เป็นการ Correction แบบ ZZ ซึ่งกฏ Rule of alternation ในบทที่ 5 ในหนังสือเขียนไว้ว่า " To continue with the assumption that your wave group is Impulsive, Alternation must be present between waves 2 & 4 in at least one of the ways mentioned above. (At this stage in the analysis process, you may or may not be working with more complex polywave patterns, so illustrations of simple and complex polywaves are presented on the next two pages for completeness.)
Figure 5-3a shows the area of an Impulse pattern where Alternation is most critical and reliable. A. Diagram A shows Alternation on a price, time, and severity basis; wave-3 is the extended wave. B. In Diagram B, again the 2 & 4 wave Alternate in similar ways as shown in Figure A, but theextended wave has changed to wave-1. C. Diagram C changes some of Figure B's conditions; wave-4 is more severe, time consuming and larger in price than wave-2 and the extended wave is now wave-5. D. The only alternation in Diagram D is severity. The two corrections appear so similar as to make the pattern very suspect. กฏ Rule of alternation มักจะใช้กับ Wave 2 และ Wave 4 A = Price B=Time C=Severity % เมื่อเทียบกับ Wave 2 และ Wave4 D = Intricacy จำนวนคลื่นย่อยใน Wave 2 และ Wave4 E= Construction (โครงสร้างรูปแบบ Correction wave ของ wave2 และ wave4) คือ ถ้าคลื่น 2 เป็น Zigzag ไปแล้ว Wave 4 จะเป็น Zigzag ซ้ำไม่ได้ ต้องเป็น Flat หรือ Triangle เท่านั้น เดาว่าอาจจะเปฌนสามเหลี่ยม เพราะ Degree คลื่นที่เราสมมุติว่าเป็นคลื่น 2 ใช้ระยะเวลานานกว่า 15 ปี เพราะคลื่นสามเป็นคลื่นยืดตัว คลื่นที่4 อาจจะใช้เวลาไม่ถึง 15 ปี เพราะมันเกิดการยืดตัวไปแล้ว แต่ก็ไม่ควรจะเล็กเกินไป อย่างน้อยคลื่นที่ 4 ควรจะใช้ไม่น้อยจนเกินไปเมื่อเทียบกับคลื่น 2
